Freeport Red Ravens Sports & Academic Club

The Freeport Red Ravens Sports & Academic Club Inc. has as its primary purpose to encourage community youth to strive for excellence in social, academic, and economic interactions. We target the surrounding communities of Freeport, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Baldwin, Oceanside, Long Beach, Merrick, Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, and Hempstead, in Nassau County, New York.   The focus of our strategy revolves around interactions that take place in sports activities. These involve developing teamwork, positive reinforcement of character and cooperative values. The discipline with which some sports are noted is also beneficial to those who participate in our activities. We also stress academic achievement above the sports. With the recent challenges faced by our youth in the various school districts, this becomes extremely important part of our programming. We strive to educate, empower, and inspire students to become independent and successful lifelong learners.  Our vision is to establish the Freeport Red Ravens Sports & Academic club as a hub of academic activity by working to increase our visibility and accessibility to our community and the surrounding communities as well.  Our work is guided by the values of our leaders, parents and staff in theory and practice, teamwork and trust, character and integrity. In line with these values we esteem collaborative learning practices, academic honesty, opportunities for personal development, and the development of critical thinking skills. We, also, Focus on the Families and communities needs from Clothing drives, Can drives, Peace Walks, Mentoring, etc. We recruit volunteers and ensure parental involvement to help us to reach as many of the youth as possible. The leaders of the communities included politicians, clergy and advocate groups are a crucial part of the outreach that's necessary to our success. The economic challenges of the past couple of years have impacted our communities in ways that are more critical than other established and stable areas. This forces organizations such as ours to work even harder to make sure the youth do not "fall through the cracks", and provides them with the tools to ensure that they have a better shot at excelling in their chosen endeavors.
